A common organizing issue in many otherwise stylish closets has to do with shoes. Leaving shoes on the closet floor immediately makes your closet look messy and unkempt, not to mention it means you'll waste time trying to find what you're looking for. Install lower shelves or racks for shoe storage. If you have no space under your hanging clothes but have rail space, consider hanging shoe organizers.
Use High Quality Coordinated Hangers
Hanging up clothes rather than stuffing them in drawers can look very chic but choose your hangers carefully. Skip the cheap wire hangers or the ugly plastic ones. Instead opt for hardy wooden hangers or hangers with attached fabric overlays. Stick with neutral colors and all of the same style for a seamless look.
Add Drawer Dividers
Often times dressers drawers or closet organization drawer systems are left unattended. Take a note from popular clothing stores and install dividers in yours. This is particularly useful for drawers with undergarments, undershirts, tank tops and other smaller clothing items.
When completely reorganizing a closet you should remove all clothing from it and begin categorizing them type and style. You should be able to look into your closet, find the style section you need and see all of the clothing within that style right there.
Organized Based On Most Used Apparel
Aside from categorizing by style, you also want to organize your clothing by what you use most often. There are three layers to closet - the middle should be your most used clothing items since they are at eye level, with the top and bottom layers being less used clothing.
Use Trunks Or Antique Suitcases For Alternative Storage
If you have limited closet space finding space for out of season clothing can be difficult. Rather than just stuffing your closet full, consider storing these clothing items outside of the closet. An excellent trick that also functions as home decor is to use decorative old trucks or antique suitcases as storage. Two large vintage stacked suitcases can make a bedside table.
Beautifying a closet takes times but once you've decluttered and installed features to help with organization, all it takes it regular maintenance to keep up its tidy appearance.
